Despite the colder weather starting to come into play now, there are still some British seasonal flowers available. Here at Hazel Holly Florist, we love to use many varieties of chrysanthemums — not the old-fashioned ones that might spring to mind, or the ones you see in petrol station bunches. They’re super classy, big and blousy, and last for weeks! They come in a huge range of colours, so we’re always spoilt for choice when we order them in.
In the latter part of the year, we use foliages, berries, and seedheads that are rich in colour and have lovely textures, and we find that they add something really special to the bouquets we make. Rosehips, ilex, and hypericum are just a few of what we love to use when we’re looking for depth and texture.
As we move further into this part of the year, we can still source dahlias and asters, although dahlias are beginning to finish. We’re very lucky to have fresh flowers delivered to us directly from Holland every single Saturday — the flowers are super fresh, and the quality is second to none.
And to finish, roses will always play their part in late summer and autumn. The choice may become less, but there are still stunning varieties available, and we love to use roses here at Hazel Holly Florist!
Many varieties are available to us all year round, and when we aren’t able to source flowers from the UK, we use our Dutch friends to supply us with the most amazing blooms, so we have a beautiful stand all year round.
